Figure 5 Productions is all about our client’s business.

When Figure 5 Productions opened its doors in 2003, we had several clients -corporations, foundations, an educational organization, and even an offbeat chef with a “food show” on PBS – all who came with us or to us. Figure 5 is a full service production company focusing on video, audio, post production, associated services and events.

By 2007, Figure 5 had grown beyond our expectations, moved to larger quarters and taken on a project not only of a lifetime, but a life saving one at that.

We were awarded a long term contract by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to produce a three part series on HIV/AIDS awareness in Ethiopia. The seven person crew we sent to Ethiopia shot almost 90 tapes in 40 days totally in Amharic, the chief language of the country. Video was deemed the most efficient way to get the message out to a population where there is a 42% illiteracy rate. The objective is to effect behavior change, encourage people to be tested regularly and seek treatment. The documentary-style videos deal with elimination of harmful traditional practices and workplace discrimination, as well as the growing prevalence of HIV/AIDS in rural Ethiopia.

We’ve kept busy with cultural nuances, setting up reliable communications, solving the “unexpected” for our crew while they traveled the countryside and extensive post production. Figure 5 is also producing the Launch event and premiere on Ethiopian television in 2009, all while attending to the needs of those clients who have been with us since Day One.

Figure 5 is an SDB 8(a) company and certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as well as the NY/NJ Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

We’ve worked golf classics in Florida, walked the Brooklyn Bridge backwards videotaping a Recovery Rally on the move, have video clips on MLB and now Ethiopia!
