FIGURE 5 PRODUCTIONS TO PRODUCE ETHIOPIAN HIV/AIDS VIDEOS FOR CENTERS OF DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION

September 28, 2007 – Wayne, NJ – Figure 5 Productions, a full service production company, announced today that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Ga. has awarded it a 14+month contract to produce three HIV/AIDS awareness videos for the people of Ethiopia.

The videos will be shot in various locations throughout Ethiopia in Amharic, the chief language in the country. The use of video is deemed the best means of communication in a country where approximately 42% of the population is illiterate. The three-part series will cover elimination of harmful traditional practices, workplace intervention as well as the growing prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the rural areas of the country.

Behavior Change Communication (BCC) will play an integral part of the production.

“Figure 5 has been selected because it has been found to be outstanding in the competition process,” stated Dr. Endale Workalemahu, M. D., the HIV/AIDS Technical Monitor for the CDC in Ethiopia.

Figure 5 will be responsible for producing the documentary style videos in their entirety. It will also produce the official Launch at an event to be held in Addis Ababa in 2009 as well as on Ethiopian television.

“Plans call for our seven person crew to be on location by early 2008,” said Mariana Pagliere, Figure 5 President. “Figure 5 presented a cohesive strategy and treatment plan. BCC and positive role models will be utilized to inform as well as encourage the people to be tested and treated. We are honored to have been chosen for this important assignment.”
